Match Report: Pyrland School vs Bishop Fox’s School. By Mr Stirzaker.

Year 9 produced a commanding display of attacking rugby to overcome Bishop Fox’s thrilling contest, running out 43–17 winners after a fast-paced and physical encounter.

The home side made the perfect start. From the opening exchanges, a powerful counter-ruck saw Pyrland regain possession deep in Bishop Fox’s territory, allowing Victor to crash over the line for the first try of the game. Although Myles was unable to convert, Pyrland had set the tone early.

Moments later, quick passing across the backline created space on the wing, where Victor finished superbly for his second try. Pyrland’s confidence was growing, and it wasn’t long before Myles broke through the defensive line with a brilliant solo run to score under the posts, this time successfully converted to make it 17–0.

Bishop Fox’s responded with a well-worked try of their own, but Pyrland soon regained control. After a missed penalty kick to touch, Myles showed great determination to recover the ball and go over himself — a fine display of resilience and awareness. The conversion stretched Pyrland’s lead to 24–5.

Bishop Fox’s struck again after the restart to reduce the deficit, but Pyrland continued to dominate territory and possession. Another flowing team move saw Herbieprovide a smart assist for Myles, who dived over in the corner to complete his hat-trick.

The visitors managed another score to bring it to 29–17, but Pyrland finished the match strongly. Oliver Reece added another try after a sharp passage of play down the right wing, the conversion pushing the score to 36–17.

The final word belonged to Ruben Mace, who showed both strength and pace with a pick-and-go run down the touchline before cutting inside to score under the posts. He converted his own try to round off a superb team performance.
