Well done to Kye Smalldon, who is joining the RAF after leaving Richard Huish College.

Ryan left Pyrland with eight GCSEs. Since leaving, he has attended Bridgwater and Taunton College and has completed a two year BTEC national diploma in Sports Coaching and was awarded a merit grade. He went to South Africa for two weeks coaching children out in the townships with the college. They took out sports equipment and clothing for the children they coached.

He has in his time at college played for the U18s team, who were runners up in the Southwest Counties Youth League, also played for the Men’s 1st team at BTC and was awarded Coaches’ Player for the Men’s 1s football. He has now started a Level 2 electrical course which will lead on to an apprenticeship next year to become a qualified electrician and has started playing semi-professional football for Wellington men’s first team.

We are very proud of our former students at Richard Huish College, who did do so well with their A Level and BTEC results. Special mention goes to Alex Bulloso, who got A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry and EPQ. He will be studying medicine at Cambridge University. Tiana Priest got three As and is taking a gap year before studying Law. Leon Prowse is also planning to go to university. Mason Collard plans to do apprenticeships in either engineering or 3D printing.

Congratulations to former Pyrland student Reagan Gallager, who won silver in the British Swimming National Championships. He is now a student at Richard Huish College

Sienna

Former  student Sienna Kayes has been in touch to tell us about her foreign travels and progress since leaving in 2021. Sienna studied French, Geography and RPE before leaving to study an International Baccalaureate.

She told us: “I do maths, literature, chemistry, biology, psychology and Spanish. Spanish is definitely my favourite subject and psychology is a very close second. There are only seven people in my year group in the course which I really love and I’ve made some great friends.”

As part of her course Sienna had to complete 50 hours of volunteering so last summer she travelled to India to spend two weeks helping in a hospital. She rounded off the experience with a trip to the Himalayas – and all while just 17 years old!
George

Huge congratulations to former student George Mannu, who graduated from Cardiff University as a doctor of medicine, following a five year degree. His proud mum Mandy sent us this photo and said: “It shows that hard work pays off and that the academy always has had a great cohort of students. Many thanks.” We wish Dr George Mannu MBBCh all the best in his future career.

Matt

Congratulations to former pupil Matt Betteridge who gained a first in his Law degree. We are all very proud of you Matt (especially his mum, who sent us this lovely photo!)
