We take the transition of Year 6 students joining Pyrland School very seriously. On this page you’ll find help and information about joining  our school. We will keep this page updated as new details become available. 

Applying for a place at secondary school

Applications for a secondary school place need to be made online – somerset.gov.uk/admissions

The online form for secondary and upper school applications will open on 16th September 2024

Closing date for school place applications – 31st October 2024

Outcome emails will be sent to those who applied online. Outcome letters will be sent out by second class post to those who applied using a paper form – 3rd March 2025

Transition Lead

We are looking forward to getting to know you over the next few months.

Mrs Schoner (Head of Year 7 and Transition Lead) and Mrs Gold (SENDCo) will be in contact with your primary school and working with them.

Please speak to your Year 6 teacher to find out when our transition team are visiting your school in the summer term.

Once your place is confirmed, you will receive a welcome letter containing all the key dates, any questions, please contact Mrs Schoner via email kschoner@pyrlandschool.com

 

Transition Days & Evenings

Our transition days are taking place on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd July.

Students will spend time in their tutor groups, have a tour of the school, take part in activities and taster lessons to help build their excitement about starting secondary school. Further information about transition days will be in the information given to your child when the transition team visit their primary school.

Our evening for parents to meet key staff takes place on Tuesday 1st July.

There will be a presentation from the headteacher and opportunity to speak with your child’s tutor.

Confirmed Places

Transition is an exciting time but if you have any worries and questions, Mrs Schoner and the Transition Team are on hand to help. Please note, we are full in Year 7 for 2025 with a waiting list.
