Year 7 Softball Cricket Tournament – Match Report by Mr Stirzaker.

Our Year 7 cricket team gave it their all in a thrilling softball cricket tournament on a scorching hot day, full of energy, enthusiasm and determination.

Game 1: vs Chilton
We opened the tournament with a tough match against Chilton. Despite a strong effort from our bowlers, we fell short by 16 runs. The highlight of the game was our aggressive bowling attack, which saw us claim 4 wickets – an excellent start to the day, showing real intent in the field.

Game 2: vs Haygrove
The second match proved more challenging as we came up against a powerful Haygrove side. We battled hard but ultimately lost by 61 runs. Even so, our team managed to break through their batting with 1 wicket, and the players continued to show resilience and team spirit despite the result.

Game 3: vs Danesfield
Our persistence paid off in our final game of the day, where we secured a well-deserved victory against Danesfield! The match featured a moment of pure excitement when Will S smashed a monster Six, sending the ball soaring and lifting team morale. It was a fantastic way to finish the tournament on a high.

Player Highlights:
  • Ben M (Captain) led the team with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
  • Bobby G was named our Bowler of the Tournament, consistently troubling the opposition with his deliveries.
  • Elijah H was our Batter of the Tournament, scoring the most runs across the tournament and showing real confidence at the crease.
  • The whole squad – Oliver F, Harvey W, Elijah H, Elijah L, Mason W, and Henry D – contributed brilliantly in the field, showing teamwork, effort, and a positive attitude throughout.
The blazing sun didn’t deter the team’s spirits, and all the players should be proud of how they represented the school. Well done to everyone involved!
