Match report by Mrs Ardren
.
Our incredible U15 girls’ cricket team reached the county state schools indoor cricket play offs, for only the second time in our school’s history. The tournament will be held later this month and the winner will play in the county finals against the independent schools winner, at the Somerset County Ground in Taunton.
.
Pyrland finished second in our group to qualify, only narrowly missing out on the top spot after losing to The Castle School by just 10 runs. They hit an incredible 102 in our match against Haygrove School, thanks to some all round classy and tactical batting, with Ali R being top scorer, closely followed by Freyja WF and Freya C.
.
They then bowled Haygrove out for 32, with 1.5 overs the spare. Tilly H got a hat trick in her over, Erica B and Esme pitched the ball perfectly, resulting in lots of dot balls in their overs. Imogen and Leona were superb in the field, Leona taking the catch of the tournament to secure the victory.
.
We are so very proud of the girls, after some early nerves they settled in and played some outstanding cricket, whilst supporting each other and conducting themselves impeccably both on and off the pitch.
.
A huge well done and bring on the play offs!
