Our Year 9 and 10 athletes represented Pyrland at the District Athletics Competition at The Castle School. Report by Mrs Ardren
.
This was a team event and we were very proud to be able to enter complete teams for Year 9 and 10 girls and Year 10 boys. This was the first time in some years where we have had complete Year 10 teams, so lots of credit needs to go to these fantastic students. In very hot conditions they competed in track and field events, with the team relays at the end of the afternoon.
.
We had lots of stand out individual performances:
.
- Tilly H – winning the Year 9 girls 1500m and joint 1st in high jump
-
Iris H – 2nd in 100m
-
Imogen P – 2nd in 100m
-
Josh C – 2nd in 800m, 2nd in 100m and 1st in high jump
-
Lottie M – 2nd in 200m
.
But just as impressive were our final team positions;
.
Year 9 girls – 3rd place
Year 10 boys – 3rd place
Year 10 girls – 2nd place
.
A great afternoon for Pyrland’s athletes.
.
The most heartwarming moment of day was at the end, just before we left, three PE members of staff from different schools all approached Mr Reeves and me to inform us that our students had been the best mannered and polite out of all of the schools there.
.
Thank you and being all round great humans!
