Year 7 and 8 Mixed Girls Rugby – T1 Tournament at Monkton Wood.
We competed against teams from Court Fields, Monkton Wood and Kingsmead schools. For some of our players, this was their very first experience of T1 rugby – but you’d never have known it from the way they played.
The girls showed brilliant teamwork, resilience and enthusiasm throughout the day – quickly becoming one of the strongest teams at the event.
There were star performances from Bobbi M, Hattie F, Poppy N, and Lottie R, who all crossed the try line with some excellent attacking play. They were well supported by Elodie M, Mollie C, Rose C, Arabella T, and Martha D, who all contributed brilliantly in both attack and defence.
A special mention goes to Bobbi M, who scored a fantastic solo try, receiving the ball out wide on the wing before switching the direction of attack, shouting as she ran “the space is over here, mate!” She then cleverly kicked the ball over the top of the defensive line and chased it down to ground it over the try line. A moment of real confidence and creativity.
It was also great to show off our new rugby kit, which looked fantastic out on the pitch. Most importantly, the girls had a great time playing together, learning new skills, and showing great team spirit. To top it off, everyone went home smiling – and with a free “Love Rugby” hair scrunchie as a souvenir of a brilliant day.
