Year 7 leaders assisted at their first Primary School Festival, having been selected after nominations by tutors and PE teachers. They then were put through their paces in a leadership assessment and training session.

On the day they led groups of reception children through a variety of multi skills activities. To add to this challenge it was a very hot day and they were on the field rather than the hard courts, which meant they had to adapt some of the activities.

However, none of this fazed them and they were all absolutely brilliant. They received a lot of praise and positive feedback by the accompanying staff, some of whom couldn’t believe they were new to the role!

They were one of the best groups of Year 7 leaders we have had the pleasure working with. Needing very little input, they remained enthusiastic throughout, were kind and supportive of the young children and used their initiative when they needed to – often without prompting.

We are pretty sure Eva D learnt the names of all 150 reception children in the two hours they were with us!
