The Year 10 sailing trip was an amazing experience. Students joined the ship Rona II on Monday 5th June and were taught the beginnings of sailing. We set off early afternoon and anchored just off the coast of the Isle of Wight with an amazing view of the Needles. Whilst at anchor we had several amazing photo opportunities including the most amazing sunset and dolphins swimming around us.
.
We then left there on Tuesday morning making our way to Poole and then Wednesday onto Weymouth. Thursday we went up to Lulworth cove where we gave the students the chance to go swimming and jumping off the bow of the ship.
.
From there we night sailed through Thursday night back to the Isle of Wight. Students have been responsible under the supervision of the crew for all parts of the ship including navigation, rigging, cooking and cleaning. Parents please be aware that these guys should now be very domesticated and are ready to help with the home chores!
.
On Friday they headed into Portsmouth for the final mooring on Saturday in Cowes, where they were given the opportunity to have a look around.
.
They have done the academy proud and have worked fantastically.
