Report by Billy in Year 7
.
After the bus ride we got into the caving gear and walked across three fields just to get to the cave. At Swildon’s Hole (the cave) we ventured down into the deep darkness. We lowered ourselves down into the first chamber – head first, which was lit only by the light of the torches on our helmets.
.
We explored a stream that was running through the cave and then it turned into an army crawl, as we squeezed through the narrow passage. With a squash and a squeeze we descended into the next chamber. To get further into the cave we had to climb down a series of ledges and walk and crawl through further passageways.
.
On the last stretch and a lot more manoeuvres up, down, left and right we ended up in the final chamber. This was the most fun part of the whole trip. We then had to climb back up along the stream and through a waterfall, all the time pulling you back down. We all got absolutely soaked. It was the best trip ever!
