News from Pyrland School Library
We have had a very busy term, with students enjoying reading, playing chess and looking through our new fiction titles. We celebrated World Book Day with lots of activities in the Library and English Department, including guess the reader, staff dressing up as their favourite book characters, competitions, treasure hunts and designing a poster or bookmark promoting reading.
February was Michael Morpurgo Month. We celebrated this with posters, book reviews, book displays, quizzes and audio clips of Michael Morpurgo discussing some of his huge catalogue of books.
Careers News
We celebrated National Careers Week with guest speakers coming in every morning during tutor time to speak to students about different careers, including Marc Giles Plumbing and Heating came who came in to speak to a group of students about plumbing as a career choice. We also had an estate agent from Nest Estate Agency come in to speak to students about career opportunities in this sector.
