We welcomed three senior mental health professionals on Monday 12th June, to see how we promote positive mental health and well being within the school. They met our Wellbeing Champions, who were receiving from training from the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) team.
.
Helen Shore, the Regional Mental Health Lead, South West DfE and Danielle Mason, Project Manager for Children and Young People’s Mental Health Team NHS England South West, joined Kate Gallagher, the Operations Manager for the MHST team. They met staff and students to see how the school approaches social, emotional and mental health.
.
Karen Mellish, the Director of Inclusion SENDCo at TTA and SEMH Lead, explained some of TTA’s initiatives, including systems in school to support good mental health. She said: “Pyrland School was one of only two schools which were chosen for the visit, such is our commitment to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in our school and wider community. We have a range of initiatives in place to support our young people as well as staff.
.
“The visitors were encouraged by the spaces that had been provided to support young people and staff and the honesty of the students, who shared their own ideas and vision about how positive mental health and wellbeing could be promoted in school.”
