In cooking and nutrition we have completed our last practicals of the year. Once again, many thanks to all parents who have supported our learners by providing ingredients, weighing and measuring them and reminding students to bring them in to school!
.
Year 7 finished their rotation by cooking plain, fruit or chocolate chip cupcakes. Not many lasted the day to be shared at home!
.
.
Year 8s were set the challenge of finding and cooking their own curry or casserole. I tasted each and gave feedback and the quality was very high. This has been a really enjoyable challenge which I set each year and each year the standard gets better and better!
.
.
Finally Year 9s practised shortcrust pastry making, sponge cake making, assembling and baking to make Maids of Honour (like a jam tart with sponge cake on top). I was impressed with their excellent effort and the great results but apologise if families did not get to enjoy them due to students eating them all!
.
.Have a great summer break and please do encourage your youngsters to keep cooking and doing washing up at home!
